Aloud or Not Aloud, that is the Question

There’s a look of suspense. There’s a sense of awe. Eyes vacillate between a three-dimensional figure and two-dimensional, vertical surfaces. If only vocalized print could give life to illustrated imagery. To travel into a vivid narrative, to witness a tale that seems to make one’s surroundings disappear, makes for a remarkable venture in stillness. Emotions are palpable with an understanding that what’s presented is nothing more than fantasy. Young listeners conclude their journey with a sudden flash to the present, prompting inquiries and offering insights into their literary expedition. They sigh, laugh, rejoice, applaud, and embrace World Read Aloud Day.
