Yesterday marked the day in 1620 that the pilgrims departed England on a one-way, perilous journey that would conclude at a shoreline that would one day become a prominent historical landmark in the United States.
If there’s one thing you’ll find anywhere in New England, it’s a piece of history. And there’s plenty of history to learn and appreciate when visiting one of the many fascinating towns in Massachusetts. Plymouth is indeed one of those places.
A trip to the oldest municipality in New England will provide education on early European settlers of the then New World, in various forms, including tours, a fun maze for families, and famous homes dating back to the seventeenth century. The above photo is a perfect case in point. It’s the rock that the Pilgrims were believed to have stepped on when they arrive in the New World.
In addition to Plymouth’s rich history, those visiting the heart of the town’s shoreline are provided with a fascinating view of moored boats in Cape Cod Bay. And for anyone looking to have a tasty, New England seafood experience, know that there is a wide selection of restaurants offering a variety of dishes that will undoubtedly delight anyone’s pallet.
So if you plan to make the Bay State a vacation or day-trip destination, make sure to list Plymouth on your to-do list.
